New “Super Memory” Pill for Alzheimers?

Scientists have found a gene in mice that gives them “super memories” and may reverse some mental illnesses like Alzheimers. PKR is found in the brains of both mice and humans and is triggered by Alzheimers, but a newly discovered gene blocks PKR’s development and may be able to reverse degenerative brain diseases, and induce a state of “super memory”.

“If we were to find an inhibitor, a molecule, a drug that will specifically block PKR, we should be able to do the same [in humans], And we did.” said Maura Costa-Mattioli, lead researcher of the study at Baylor University to the Vancouver Sun. “

It is possible that this research may lead to the creating of a type of “brain pill” that will treat mental diseases like Alzheimers. It may also be used by people with mental diseases to give them a significant memory boost. These findings have created a new hope for those suffering from brain conditions and their families.
